This series of prints have been inspired by objects from the British Museum – discovered whilst researching the development of alphabets, writing and language. The prints were based upon drawings made directly from the displays and include a number of amulets, figurines, small-carved animals of ivory and bone as well as more ornate and decorative pieces – dating from approximately 1500BC from Assyria and Mesopotamia.

In each of the prints – the key image has been drawn with crayon and tusche and printed from stone. Further colour runs have been printed from aluminium ball grained plate and photoplate.
